The EILEEN SHIELDS label was launched in February 2004 and has continued to grow exponentially each season, with the opening of a New York showroom and a Dublin store. The label is sold at over 40 high-end boutiques and department stores across the US, Europe, and Asia. Born in New York, Eileen Shields grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She has been living and working in New York since 1988 and was, for over a decade, footwear designer for Donna Karan. Eileen was a key player in launching and building the DKNY footwear line, including Men's and Women's, and was responsible for the innovative D by DKNY line, nominated for Best New Line at the VH1 Fashion Awards. The EILEEN SHIELDS label is a transatlantic venture - Eileen has her own flagship store and gallery, '5 Scarlet Row' in the Old City district of Dublin. 5 Scarlet Row was created in collaboration with renowned curator/gallerist Vaari Claffey and is the flagship store to showcase the entire EILEEN SHIELDS collection. Shields' collections sell alongside clothes and accessories exclusive to Ireland by other prominent international designers including Eley Kishimoto, Sharon Wauchob, VPL, Irish designer Helen James and UNIS, the sexy unisex clothing line. The store is an event-driven space with invitation only shopping evenings with the designers and launch parties for the in-store 'Gallery for One' art exhibitions. EILEEN SHIELDS has received highly favorable press including features in British Vogue, Elle Magazine, Nylon, Oprah, and Real Simple, among many others. Eileen was also named "One of Our Favorite New Faces in Fashion" by Lucky Magazine. Eileen has custom-made shoes for Bono of U2 and Polly Harvey of P.J. Harvey. She also counts Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Samantha Morton, Courtney Cox Arquette, Drew Barrymore and Andie MacDowell among her many fans. Several styles have been seen adorning the feet of 'Gabby' in recent episodes of Desperate Housewives and were also styled for the shoot of the new Sex And The City movie.
